Is my loft suitable for conversion?


Ideally there should be 2.2 meters from the midpoint of the roof or higher. There is no minimum room height set by building regulations, but for stairs and entrances. Alternatively, a loft conversion has vertical windows and doors, which have more possibilities when it comes to the main living room and stairs.


Mansard Loft” conversions will have a box-like appearance more than a skylight due to the 70-degree slope of the rear wall and raised wall bricks. However, such transformations require planning permission.


A good loft conversion can add 10-20% to the value of your home without sacrificing the garden space required by the ground floor extensions.
